A note before you start: every reader here goes in the order of the Bible, because that is how this library is filed — a passage sits under the verse it speaks about. For a commentary written on the text, that is very nearly the work’s own order. For a work numbered another way, the Talmud by folio or responsa by question, it is not; and passages that cite no verse are not here at all. Where no English translation came with a work, it is here in Hebrew, dimmed and at the foot of its list.
